چکیده

This paper proposes low-complexity blind detection for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems with the differential space-time block code (DSTBC) under time-varying frequencyselective Rayleigh fading. The detector employs the maximum likelihood sequence estimation (MLSE) in cooperation with the blind linear prediction (BLP), of which prediction coefficients are determined by the method of Lagrange multipliers. Interpolation of channel frequency responses is also applied to the detector in order to reduce the complexity. A complexity analysis and computer simulations demonstrate that the proposed detector can reduce the complexity to about a half, and that the complexity reduction causes only a loss of 1 dB in average Eb/N0 at BER of 10−3 when the prediction order and the degree of polynomial approximation are 2 and 1, respectively. key words: DSTBC, OFDM, MLSE, blind signal detection, linear prediction, the method of Lagrange multipliers, interpolation

Proposed Pilot Pattern Methods for Improvement DVB-T System Performance

Recently, orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) has been extensively used in communications systems to resist channel impairments in frequency selective channels. OFDM is a multicarrier transmission technology in wireless environment that use a large number of orthogonal subcarriers to transmit information. OFDM is one of the most important blocks in digital video broadcast-terrestr...

Mode detection, synchronization, and channel estimation for DVB-T OFDM receiver

A baseband receiver for DVB-T OFDM with variable number of subcarriers is presented in this paper. The proposed receiver consists of a blind mode detector, time and frequency synchronizer, and channel estimator. The blind mode detector uses a novel algorithm to detect the number of OFDM subcarriers in the received signal. Time and frequency synchronization is performed after the transmission mo...

Performance Analysis of Analytic Interpolator for Comb-Type Pilot-Aided Channel Estimation in OFDM Systems Without ICI

Pilot-aided channel estimation in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems often needs an interpolation technique to construct the channel frequency response on nonpilot subcarriers. Many studies on interpolations have been published; however, the performance of interpolations such as cubic spline interpolation and linear interpolation is limited by either the number or the pos...

Interpolation Based Transmit Beamforming for MIMO-OFDM with Partial Feedback

Transmit beamforming with receive combining is a simple method for exploiting the significant diversity provided by multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems, and the use of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) enables low complexity implementation of this scheme over frequency selective MIMO channels. Optimal beamforming requires channel state information in the form of the be...

Channel Estimation in OFDM Systems

Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) provides an effective and low complexity means of eliminating intersymbol interference for transmission over frequency selective fading channels. This technique has received a lot of interest in mobile communication research as the radio channel is usually frequency selective and time variant. In OFDM system, modulation may be coherent or differ...
